the bold initiative

The Rebuilders Campus is a partnership between our community and Cooperative Christian Ministry (CCM) to establish a new transitional housing capacity in Cabarrus county. This bold initiative will help individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing crisis, with stable housing, nutritional support, and access to resources promoting positive outcomes.

our community today

  • HOUSING STABILITY is identified as one of the greatest UNMET needs. One of the top-3 strategic planning focuses of our municipalities, our school systems, our public health authority and our hospital system is HOUSING STABILITY.

  • The waitlist for Public Housing in Cabarrus County is currently 67 MONTHS (5.6 years) with 175 units available. Compare that to Fulton County / Atlanta, GA, which is 54 months (4.5 years) with 2,985 units available.

  • More than 1,800 households in Cabarrus County exist on EXTREMELY LOW INCOME (ELI).

  •  CCM received an average of 20 applications per month from families seeking housing in 2021, 38 per month in 2022 and 44 per month through the first six months of 2023… a 120% increase in 2 1/2 years.

  • Cabarrus County & Kannapolis City Schools identify over 825 students being homeless at some point throughout a given school year, up 40% from 2022.

  • An INCREASE OF 350-500 TOTAL BEDS are needed to meet the current homelessness need in Cabarrus County (Source: A 5-Year Prospectus; Solving the Housing Crisis Publication – 2019).

rebuilders campus vision

Vision for Rebuilders Campus

The Rebuilders Campus will provide stable housing, nutritional support, and access to resources that support positive outcomes. The encouraging community environment will provide resources for adult and child education, healthy habits and activities, connection to vital resources, access to public and other transportation, job training, career coaching, and employment opportunities.

Community Needs NOW and in the Future

The Rebuilders College represents a multi-year commitment on the part of adult and youth participants to pursue a rigorous plan for personal growth and development. Participants engage with trained staff to develop their own Personal Development Plan (PDP).  The PDP sets priorities on educational, vocational and workforce training to expand career choices and increase potential for financial stability. The program is designed to adhere to CCM’s proven Path to Stability model.  It also encompasses priorities in physical, emotional and spiritual health.

The Rebuilders Campus will create housing and access to resources for parents and children, providing stability vital to education and employment.
